| Aromatic Red Cedar Boxes. |
I make several different types of boxes. Some are small, some are medium sized, some large, and some are made
in a special traditional way for special purposes. Unless stated otherwise, most of these boxes will have brass
hinges and brass latches, and will be finished with durable polyurethane varnish. The special boxes have
leather hinges, no latch, and contain no metal what-so-ever, and will be finished with a natural Tung Oil
finish.
      BOX-A The wood in this particular box is really beautiful. The photographs really do not show just how great the wood looks. It just seemed like this piece of wood wanted to become this box. The way the wood blends from front to sides and onto the back, and then the top with the really great natural pattern. The inside is left unfinished and can have the natural aroma restored at any time by lightly sanding the inside surfaces. This box has brass hinges and brass latch, and is finished with polyurethane varnish for a durable gloss finish. It has leather hinges, leather tiewrap in place of a latch, it has mitered joints held by glue, and finished with at least 7 coats of natural Tung Oil. The inside surfaces are left completely natural with no finish other than sanding them smooth.
